Answer to: Which clients are considered for the ABI Program?
The Acquired Brain Injury Program at GF Strong Rehab Centre is for adults who have sustained a brain injury due to one or more of the following:

Referrals for potential clients are screened by liaison therapists prior to acceptance onto the program. The client must have rehabilitation goals that are best met in this setting and meet the program admission criteria.

Referrals must include documentation from a physician and should include therapy reports if available.

Answer to: How long is the wait list - inpatient / outpatient?
Inpatient Services
The inpatient wait list generally ranges from one to four weeks for clients accepted and ready for rehabilitation. Regular contact occurs between the GF Strong Rehab Centre liaison therapist and the referring acute care facility until admission occurs or the client is referred to alternate services in his/her community.

Outpatient Services
Clients are wait-listed according to referral date. Some priority is given to clients with new injuries particularly if they have received limited rehabilitation. Referrals are screened by the liaison therapist. Once you have been accepted for outpatient services you will receive a letter by mail indicating you have been placed on the wait list. The outpatient wait list may be up to six months. You will be contacted by telephone to arrange an outpatient schedule when services become available.

Answer to: How long can I expect to stay at GF Strong Rehab Centre as an inpatient?
The average length of stay for an inpatient client is approximately six weeks but may range anywhere from three weeks to three months depending on the client's needs, progress and achievement of rehabilitation goals.
